WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Senior Chioma Gabriel (Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway) won at both singles and doubles and clinched the match with her victory at No. 4 singles as the Monmouth University women's tennis team defeated hOURglass rival Saint Peter's, 4-3, Tuesday afternoon. With the win, the Hawks improve to 2-3 (1-1 MAAC), while the Peacocks slip to 1-3 (0-2 MAAC). 

Gabriel paired with Caroline Mattise (Clarks Green, PA/Abington Heights) to clinch the doubles point with a 7-6 (3) victory over Claudia Hellman and Stephanie Falcon at No. 2. She then clinched the match with a 6-4, 7-6 (9) win over Falcon at No. 4 singles. 

Senior Adriana Armendariz (Pamplona, Spain/Colegio San Ignacio [Maryville]) and sophomore Maria Ivanova (Moscow, Russia/IMG Academy) also won at No. 3 doubles, scoring a 6-1 victory over Aidah Muhammad and Azuri Hughes. 

Freshman Victoria Nugent (Elsinboro, NJ/Pennsville Memorial) and senior Kendal Kauffman (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) similarly made quick work of their singles opponents. Nugent defeated Elena Melian Puigventos, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 2, while Kauffman got past Hellman, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 3. 

Monmouth closes out the Fall season Sunday, when it travels to Mount St. Mary's. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m.
