MEN'S SOCCER FALLS ON LAST-SECOND GOAL AT SAINT PETER'S

JERSEY CITY, NJ – The Monmouth University men's soccer team fell to hOURglass rival Saint Peter's, 1-0, Saturday afternoon at Jaroschak Field on a Louis Mobbs goal off an Andrew Romero assist with 21 seconds remaining in the second half. With the loss, the Hawks fall to 2-5-2 (1-1-0 MAAC), while the Peacocks improve to 2-6-2 (1-1-0 MAAC). 
Shots were an even 10-10 on the afternoon, with Jake Areman (Freehold, NJ/Colts Neck) leading the way for the Hawks with four shots. Anderson Asiedu (Hoboken, NJ/St. Benedict's) added three and Colin Stripling (Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood) had two. 

NOTES 
- The loss snapped a five-game winning streak for the Hawks against Saint Peter's. Monmouth now leads the series, 15-5-1. 
- Two Hawks – freshman back Andy Martinez (Paterson, NJ/St. Benedict's) and sophomore midfielder Anderson Asiedu (Hoboken, NJ/St. Benedict's) have played every minute this season for Monmouth. 

CRUNCHING THE NUMBERS
- Both teams got off 10 shots, with Saint Peter's taking a 5-2 edge in shots on goal. 
- Eric Klenofsky (Lincoln Park, NJ/DePaul Catholic) made four saves in net for Monmouth. Jamie Cleland from Saint Peter's made two saves.
- Monmouth was whistled for 11 fouls to the Peacocks' nine. However, Saint Peter's drew three yellow cards, including a second Brandon Goncalves' second of the game in being sent off with 10 seconds left in regulation. Monmouth was not shown a card.
- Mobbs led Saint Peter's with four shots, including three on goal. 
- Monmouth took a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks.

UP NEXT
The Hawks return to MAAC play Wednesday, when they play host to hOURglass rival Rider in a rematch of last season's MAAC Championship Game. Kickoff from Hesse Field is slated for 7 p.m.
