The Hawks play host to Fairfield Saturday afternoon in the first game of a women's and men's basketball doubleheader. Monmouth is coming off an 85-58 setback at Quinnipiac on Thursday, while the Stags have won four of their last five, including a 63-56 victory over Rider on Thursday.  
 
SCOUTING THE FAIRFIELD STAGS
Kelsey Carey leads Fairfield at 12.0 points per game, while Casey Smith (10.8 ppg.) and Kristin Schatzlein (10.5 ppg.) have also averaged in double figures. Carey has shot 49.8 percent from the floor, bested only by Kristine Miller's 60.6 percent. Samantha Cooper has added 8.4 points and a team-best 7.7 rebounds per game. Lizzy Ball leads the MAAC in assists per game (5.1) and assist-to-turnover ratio (2.3).

ALL-TIME SERIES VS. FAIRFIELD
Fairfield owns a 6-3 lead in the all-time series with Monmouth. Since the Hawks joined the MAAC in 2013-14, the two teams have split four meetings with the home team winning each game. Two of the games have gone to overtime, with each team winning once.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Sarah Olson scored 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting, including 3-of-3 from long range, but the Hawks fell at Quinnipiac, 85-58, Thursday in Hamden. Erica Balman established new career highs of eight points and 10 rebounds, while Tyese Purvis also scored eight points.

LAST TIME AGAINST FAIRFIELD
Fairfield scored the last four points of regulation to force overtime and took a 54-52 victory on its home court last Feb. 1, 2015, at Alumni Hall. Casey Smith led Fairfield with 14 points, while Kristin Schatzlein added 12 points. Samantha Cooper had eight points and 14 rebounds for the Stags. Christina Mitchell led the Hawks with 14 points, 14 rebounds and four blocks. Amanda Offenback narrowly missed a double-double for MU with 11 points and nine rebounds.
