The Hawks return to action Friday, when they travel to Siena. Monmouth is coming off a 60-52 win over Marist on Sunday. The Saints have won five straight, including a 60-59 win over Manhattan on Sunday, and stand atop the league standings at 6-0. Friday's game will be broadcast on Time Warner Cable throughout New York and streamed on ESPN3 elsewhere.
SCOUTING THE SIENA SAINTSSophomore Kollyns Scarbrough has led the Saints this season at 12.9 points and 2.9 steals per game to go along with 4.8 rebounds per contest. Three-time MAAC Rookie of the Week Jackie Benitez is next in line at 10.9 points and 2.4 steals per game. The Saints feature balanced scoring, with their next five scorers averaging between 5.1 and 7.6 points per game. Leading the group is Denisha Petty-Evans at 7.6 points per game, while 2015 MAAC Rookie of the Year Margot Hetzke has contributed 7.4 points and a team-leading 8.1 rebounds per game. Symone Kelly has chipped in at 6.2 points and 5.3 rebounds per game, while Preseason All-MAAC Second Team selection Meghan Donohue has chipped in at 5.9 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. Deja Rawls rounds out the group at 5.1 points and a team-leading 2.6 assists per game.
ALL-TIME SERIES VS. SIENAMonmouth leads the all-time series with Siena, 9-6. The Saints have taken the last three meetings, including a 69-63 win on Dec. 4 and both meetings last season. The Hawks won both games in 2013-14. Prior to the Hawks' first season in the MAAC in 2013-14, the two teams had not squared off since February 26, 1986.
LAST TIME OUTJasmine McCall came off the bench to score a team-high 17 points and
Christina Mitchell grabbed 12 rebounds and set new career highs in blocks (6) and assists (5) as the Hawks defeated MAAC power Marist, 60-52, Sunday afternoon in West Long Branch.
Tyese Purvis added 11 points, five rebounds and four assists, while
McKinzee Barker had seven points and a season-high 11 rebounds.
Jasmine Walker also chipped in with eight points.
