HAWKS AND SETON HALL BATTLE TO SCORELESS DOUBLE OVERTIME DRAW

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ - Monmouth and Seton Hall played to a double overtime scoreless draw on Hesse Field on Monday night as the Hawks' program celebrated Christie Rampone Night. Monmouth, which outshot the Pirates 21-10 overall, including 5-1 in the two extra sessions, moves to 4-1-1 overall.

Monmouth, which posted its fourth shutout on the season, played in its second straight overtime contest as junior goalkeeper Sydney Lavan (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Memorial) made two saves for the Hawks.

"As the game wore on I thought we really played well and were a bit unlucky not to score a goal or two," stated head coach Krissy Turner, who is 2-0-1 against Seton Hall over the last three seasons. "It was a nice step forward from us after our last performance."

In the match, the Hawks hit the post twice and the cross bar once, as Seton Hall freshman netminder Anna MacLean made six stops for the Pirates.

Monmouth, which generated six corner kicks in the overtime periods, also held an 8-5 edge in corner opportunities.

Rachael Ivanicki (Marlboro, NJ/Colts Neck), who had a shot hit the post and the cross bar, and Erica Murphy (Millstone Township, NJ/Pennington Prep), who also hit the post, each had five shots in the match to pace the Hawks, while Alexis McTamney (Bordentown, NJ/Bordentown Regional) added four attempts.

Prior to the match, Monmouth honored Christie Rampone '99, US National Team Captain and World Cup Champion in a pregame ceremony on the field.

Monmouth returns to action on Friday, September 11, when the Hawks travel to Lehigh University for a non-conference match with the Mountain Hawks at 7:00 p.m.
