KINGSTON, RI – The Monmouth University women's tennis team competed at the University of Rhode Island Doubles Classic on Saturday, while also taking on the Rams in a dual match on Sunday.
Adriana Armendariz (Pamplona, Spain/Colegio San Ignacio [Maryville]) and
Alexandra Graff (Bastad, Sweden/IMG Academy) won the consolation bracket with an 8-4 win over Holy Cross on Saturday, while the Rams took a 6-1 victory in the dual match on Sunday.
Maria Ivanova (Moscow, Russia/IMG Academy) earned a win at No. 5 singles to account for the Hawks' lone victory. She led Jordan Rucks, 5-3, in the first set before Rucks retired.
The Hawks return to action Wednesday, when they play host to hOURglass rival Rider. The match is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
