MISCHLER, MCCREA INDUCTED TO MAAC HONOR ROLL

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Monmouth University Athletics Hall of Famers Walter Mischler '62 and Dorothy McCrea '73 will be honored by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) with an induction into the MAAC Hall of Fame Honor Roll, league officials announced Monday.

Each MAAC member institution recognizes one male and one female for induction to the honor roll. Inductees will be honored at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on the Court of Dreams at a private dinner event on Saturday, November 1. In addition, each honoree will be included in the 2015 MAAC Basketball Championships game program, and will have a part in the featured video display at “The MAAC Experience” at the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Mass.

Mischler, a member of the first-ever Monmouth Athletics Hall of Fame class in 1981, was Monmouth's first NAIA All-American in 1962. That year, as a senior, he registered an NAIA national statistical best in rebounding and field goal percentage. A First Team Central Atlantic Conference honoree in 1961 and 1962, Mischler scored 1,259 career points, making him the 11th-highest scorer in the school's non-Division I history. Mischler holds the school record for points in a single game with 49 against Newark College of Engineering in January 1962, and rebounds in a season with 625 in the 1961-62 season.

McCrea was also a member of the first-ever Monmouth Athletics Hall of Fame class in 1981. She played four sports, earning 11 letters during her time at Monmouth in basketball, tennis, softball and field hockey. She was the first woman in Monmouth history to net 1,000 career points, and held a single-game basketball scoring record of 39 points.

Monmouth, which recently completed its first season as a member of the MAAC, inducted Ron Kornegay and Joan Martin last year in its first ever MAAC Hall of Fame Honor Roll class.
