POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Junior Ashley Sandler (Jericho, N.Y./Syosset) earned a singles victory at No. 2, but the Monmouth University women's tennis team suffered a 6-1 loss at Marist, Monday afternoon in the season finale.

Sandler notched a 6-3, 6-4 win against Callie Morlock to capture the lone point for the Blue and White. The Hawks nearly earned the doubles point as the duo of senior Brooke Verdiglione (Englishtown, N.J./St. John Vianney) and junior Farrah Smoke (Spring Lake Heights, N.J./Manasquan [Brookdale C.C.]), playing No. 1 for the final time together, earned a 8-4 victory over Karlene Pang and Morlock, but the No. 2 tandem of Sandler and Chioma Gabriel (Piscataway, N.J./Piscataway) were held off by Melissa Carlay and Kaye Eastman, 8-6, coupled with a win at No. 3 for the Red Foxes secured the point.

The Hawks will welcome back 10 of the 11 letter winners to next year's squad.
