TOWSON, Md. – Towson swept the doubles point and earned victories in all six singles matches to defeat the Monmouth University women's tennis team 7-0, Sunday afternoon at the Towson Center Tennis Courts.

The Blue and White received strong efforts from both Brooke Verdiglione (Englishtown, N.J. (St. John Vianney) and Chioma Gabriel (Piscataway, N.J./Piscataway), who each forced three sets. Verdiglione, playing No. 1, rebounded after falling 6-0 in the opening set to edge Belen Lizana 6-4 in the second set, but Towson earned the point on Lizana's 6-3 win in the decisive third set. At No. 5, Gabriel notched a 6-3 victory in her first set to down Ariel Burke, but was upended in the following two sets 7-5, 10-1 to suffer the loss.

MU returns home to take on former league opponent Saint Francis Brooklyn at 3:30 on Tuesday, April 15th.
