WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – The Monmouth University women's tennis team fell 7-0 to visiting Hofstra, Saturday afternoon at the MU Tennis Courts. The Pride, who swept the doubles point before downing the Hawks in all six singles matches, improves to 8-7 with their fifth-straight victory.
Freshman Kendal Kauffman (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) nearly won her opening set in her No. 4 singles match, but was held off by Giulia Leone, 7-5, 6-0. Senior Brooke Verdiglione (Englishtown, N.J./St. John Vianney), playing No. 1, suffered a 6-2, 6-2 defeat to Sarah Bowen.
The Hawks are back on the courts tomorrow when they travel to Towson, Md. for a battle with the Tigers. First serve is slated for noon.
