EMMITSBURG, Md. – Freshman Adriana Armendariz (Pamplona, Spain/Colegio San Ignacio) earned a victory at both No. 1 singles and doubles, but the Monmouth University women's tennis team fell 6-1 at Mount St. Mary's, Saturday afternoon in its fall season finale.

Armendariz teamed up with senior Farrah Smoke (Belmar, N.J./Manasquan [Brookdale C.C.]) to earn a 8-5 win over Kelly Smith and Jennifer Smith, but the Mountaineers earned victories at No. 2 and No. 3 to clinch the point.

In singles play, the rookie cruised to a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Erin Benefiel to give Monmouth its lone point of the afternoon. Ashley Sandler (Jericho, N.Y./Syosset), playing No. 4, forced a third set, but couldn't pull away in the tiebreaker, falling 6-3, 4-6, 10-3.

Monmouth continues its 2014-2015 campaign in March.
