WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – The Monmouth University women's tennis team fell to Saint Francis (Pa.), 7-0, Saturday afternoon in a Northeast Conference match.
The Red Flash swept every set on the day. Junior Brooke Verdiglione (Englishtown, N.J./St. John Vianney) nearly staged a first-set win against No. 2 singles opponent Shivani Patel, but fell 7-6. Ashley Sandler (Jericho, N.Y./Syosset) was also close to a win for the Blue and White, yet Lucy Jasso edge the sophomore 6-4 in the duo's first set.
The Hawks return to the courts on Tuesday, April 9th as it welcomes LaSalle into West Long Branch for a non-conference tilt. First serve from the MU Tennis Courts is slated for 3:30 p.m.
