ANNAPOLIS, Md. - For the second year in a row, Monmouth University women's tennis recorded a victory over Navy at the Bill & Sandra Moore Tennis Invitational, hosted by the Midshipmen this past weekend.
Senior Nicole Lippens (West Long Branch, N.J./Shore Regional) along with junior Brooke Verdiglione (Englishtown, N.J./St. John Vianney) fell behind to Navy's Tracy Thorell and Dye Das, 0-2, dropping the first eight points of the match, but the duo rallied back to defeat the Midshipmen's No. 1 doubles team, 8-2. It marks the second time in as many years the Hawks earned a victory over the host team as Ashley Sandler (Jericho, N.Y./Syosset) recorded the victory for the Blue and White at last year's event.
Monmouth will host Rider on Monday before taking on in-state rival Fairleigh Dickinson on Thursday in Teaneck.
