WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J.- Monmouth University (3-13) women's tennis team won their second straight match with a 7-0 blanking of Saint Francis College (1-6) Monday afternoon at home.
MU lost just two games the entire match and improved to 3-3 in conference play.
Monmouth junior Nicole Lippens (West Long Branch, N.J./Shore Regional) downed Arianne Van Sluytman 6-0, 6-1, while the Monmouth players swept the next four opponents 6-0, 6-0. Sophomore Brooke Verdiglione (Englishtown, N.J./St. John Vianney) dispatched Camille Petrizzo at the No. 2 spot while Dana Ferrari (Saddle Brook, N.J./Immaculate Heart Academy) topped Natasha Edwards at the third singles position. Freshman Liz D'Arcy (Colonia, N.J./Wardlaw-Hartridge) swept Akuila Edwards at the four slot while Jessica Slinger (Tinton Falls, N.J./Monmouth Regional) won 6-0, 6-0 over Sara Sooy in the fifth singles spot. The Terriers forfeited the final singles match.
Verdiglione and Lippens swept the top doubles flight 8-0 over Van Sluytman and Petrizzo. Ferrari and Turner secured a 8-1 win over SFNY's Edwards sisters while the Terriers forfeited the third doubles flight.
The Hawks will face LaSalle in Philadelphia on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
