WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J.- Senior
Tyler George (Berkeley Heights, N.J./Govenor
Livingston) was named as honorable mention
tight end performer of the week by the College Football Performance Awards.
George compiled eight catches for 78 yards to lead the Hawks in last weekend's
game against Albany. The fifth year senior gave the Hawks a 7-0 lead early on a
24 yard touchdown catch, his first of the season. His receptions tied a career
high (Lehigh 2011) and his yardage was one short of a tying his personal best
of 79 yards set against Duquesne in 2010.
With his effort against the Great Danes, George now ranks fourth all-time in
receptions with 112 and eighth in receiving yards with 1,112. He needs just three receptions to pass Will
Holder for third and 13 yards to eclipse Marcus Winters for seventh.
George is currently third on the Hawks in receptions with 19 grabs for 144
yards.
Monmouth, 3-2 (2-1 NEC), is off this week but returns to face Cornell on
October 13, 2012.
