STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.- In a game which was rescheduled from the Fall due to
weather, Monmouth's women's tennis team improved to 6-7 with a 7-0 blanking of
Wagner on Thursday.
The Hawks swept the singles matches and took the doubles points; with Nicole Lippens (West Long Branch, N.J./Shore Regional) earning the top flight win 6-2,
6-2. Jessica Slinger (Tinton Falls,
N.J./Monmouth Regional) defeated Aurora Brennan 6-1, 6-0 at the #2 slot while
freshman Dana Ferrari (Saddle Brook, N.J./Immaculate Heart Academy) continued
her impressive rookie campaign with a win at the third position. Katie Tierney (Berkeley Heights,
N.J./Governor Livingston) and Britney Dupuis (Freehold, N.J./Colts Neck)
registered wins at the four and five spots, respectively and Diane Washer
picked up a win by default to complete the singles sweep.
Lippen and Tierney dropped Nikki Arnold and Brennan in the first doubles match,
winning 8-2. MU duos swept the other two
doubles matches 8-0 to pick up the team point for the Hawks.
Monmouth will look to extend its winning streak to three on Friday when it
faces Saint Francis University at home.
