PHILADELPHIA, Pa.- Monmouth University's women's tennis squad improved to 5-7 overall with a 4-3 win over LaSalle University (1-8) on Tuesday afternoon.
LaSalle took the singles point in the top two slots but freshman Dana Ferrari (Saddlebrook, N.J./Immaculate Heart) got her 12th win of the season with a 6-1, 3-0 win over Elli Vamvakitis. Vamvakitis retired in the second set. Sophomore Britney Dupuis (Freehold, N.J./Colts Neck) downed Explorer Sarah Chamber 6-0, 6-1 while senior Diane Washer (Ogdensburg, N.J./Wallkill Valley Regional) battled to a 6-4, 6-2 victory against Pearl Wikeins in the sixth flight to give MU three singles victories.
The duo of Wasther and Ferrari earned an 8-4 win over Vamvakitis and Chamber while Kelly Friedrich (Brick, N.J./Brick Memorial) and Jessica Slinger (Tinton Falls, N.J./Monmouth Regional) earned a 8-1 win over Courtney Babo and Pearl Wilkeins to seal the doubles point.
Monmouth returns to the courts Thursday, April 8, when they travel to Staten Island to take on Wagner.
