WALL, N.J.- Monmouth University's women's tennis team (6-8) had its two game win streak snapped on Friday as the Hawks fell to Saint Francis University 4-3 at the Atlantic Club.

The game, originally set to be played at the MU tennis courts was moved to the indoor facility at the Atlantic Club in Wall, N.J. due to rain in the forecast.

The Hawks got off to a good start in singles play with Nicole Lippens (West Long Branch, N.J./Shore Regional) winning her second consecutive match at the No. 1 spot with a 6-2, 6-1 win over the Red Flash's Samantha Fulchiero.  Dana Ferarri (Saddle Brook, N.J./Immaculate Heart Academy) won her 14 ^th match of the season by downing Ashley Zalewski in straight sets (6-0, 6-0).  Katie Tierney (Berkeley Heights, N.J./Governor Livingston) won the fourth singles spot with a 6-2, 6-4 match against Devynn Sarver. 

The Hawks would lose the final two singles flights, but not without a fight.  Sophomore Britney Dupuis (Freehold, N.J./Colts Neck) battled back from a 6-4 first set defeat to win the second set 7-5 and force a third set where she would eventually fall 7-5.  Senior Diane Washer (Ogdensburg, N.J./Wallkill Valley Regional) dropped the sixth spot of the singles competition by a match score of 7-6 (2), 6-3.

Earlier in the match the Hawks were able to win just the second flight of the doubles portion of the match, with Ferrari and Washer winning 8-2.  SFPA earned what turned out to be a very important team point with victories in the other two matches.

The Hawks return home against Mount Saint Mary's on Sunday.  The match is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start.
