The Monmouth University women's basketball team travels to Jersey City for a nonconference clash with Saint Peter's on Thursday evening. The two Garden State schools each come into the contest looking for their first win, as the Hawks fell at Maryland to open the season and the Peahens have dropped games at Sacred Heart and Hofstra. The last time the two teams met, MU came away with a 59-47 overtime win in Coach Gaitley's Monmouth debut on November 15, 2008.

Monmouth dropped a 73-40 decision at Maryland to begin the 2010-11 season last Saturday. MU was paced by reigning Northeast Conference Rookie of the Year Alysha Womack's 13 points on 5-of-13 field goals, including 3-of-7 from three-point range. Gabby Singer and Abby Martin each finished with six points apiece, adding five and six rebounds, respectively.
WHAT'S POPPIN' WITH THE PEAHENS?
Saint Peter's comes into tonight's contest at 0-2 after falling, 65-48 at Sacred Heart to open the season and 78-55 at Hofstra on Monday. Jynae Judson leads the Peahens in scoring at 12.5 points per game, while Charlene Riddick is second on the team with 9.5 points per contest and leads the team with 9.0 rebounds per game. Khadijah Young is third on the team, averaging 9.0 points per contest. In Saint Peter's two games, they are shooting 32% from the field, while allowing the opposition to connect on 43.8% of its attempts.
