WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J.- Monmouth women's tennis team fell to 1-6 on the fall
season after a 6-1 home loss to Drexel on the Monmouth Tennis Courts.
Monmouth was stricken by the injury bug as No. 1 singles regular Nicole Lippens
(West Long Branch, N.J./Shore Regional) and No. 4 singles player Britney Dupuis
(Freehold, N.J./Colts Neck) each missed the match due to injury. Promising freshman Brooke Verdiglione
(Englishtown, N.J./St. John Vianney), playing in the No. 1 singles flight, had
to retire her match due to an injury suffered in her doubles match with Hawk
sophomore Dana Ferrari (Saddlebrook, N.J./Immaculate Heart).
The Dragons won the top two doubles flight and lost the third match by default
but still secured the team point. Drexel
won the top five singles spots before defaulting in the final singles match.
The Hawks will look to rebound on Monday at home against Wagner at 3:30.
