WOMEN'S BASKETBALL ANNOUNCES 2009 CLINIC IN NOVEMBER

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. - The Monmouth University women's basketball program has announced it will host its fall coach's clinic on Sunday, November 1 from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm in the new MultiPurpose Activity Center.

The clinic will feature Monmouth head coach Stephanie V. Gaitley, as well as current Connecticut Sun (WNBA) head coach Mike Thibault and former collegiate coach Theresa Grentz.

The cost of the clinic is $25 per coach to attend and $10 per player (8th grade and under as per NCAA rules) .

Gaitley is entering her second year as the head of the Monmouth program. The Hawks amassed an 18-13 record in 2008-09, tying them for the most wins in a season since 1987-88. In 23 seasons as a collegiate head coach, Gaitley has amassed a career record of 425-246 with 10 postseason bids.

Returning for his seventh season with the Sun, Thibault is firmly established as one of the premier coaches in the WNBA. Named WNBA Coach of the Year for the second time in his career in 2008, he led the third-youngest team in the league to 21 victories and its sixth straight berth in the playoffs. The Sun has never failed to qualify for the postseason under Thibault, who owns the second-best winning percentage (.623) among active coaches.

Grentz is the former head coach of the women's basketball programs at the University of Illinois, Rutgers University and St. Joseph's. She is a member of the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame and her career record is 671-309 and she served as a head coach for 32 years, with the last 13 as the Illinois head coach. She was the Olympic head coach in 1992 in Barcelona. She is 10th all- time in women's NCAA basketball in wins, and only had two losing seasons in her 32 years of coaching basketball.
