WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J.- The Monmouth University football team game against Duquesne on Saturday, September 19 will be broadcast on MSG Plus and Fox College Sports, league officials announced today.
The third game of the Hawks slate, set for kickoff at 12 p.m. on Kessler Field, will be aired live on MSG Plus and Fox College Sports. Fox Sports Net Pittsburgh will show the game on a one day tape delay on Sunday, September 20, at 1 pm. The Monmouth contest against Colgate will also be broadcast on Time Warner Cable, marking the first time since 2007 that the Hawks will appear on television.
“We are excited to be part of the Northeast Conferences television football package in 2009,” said Monmouth head coach Kevin Callahan. “Our players are looking forward to the opportunity to play in front of a regional television market.”
The Monmouth/Duquesne game is the first of four NEC contests that will be on regional television. On October 3, Sacred Heart kicks off against Central Connecticut State on MSG Plus, and then two weeks later Saint Francis (Pa.) visits Robert Morris on FSN Pittsburgh. In the final game, Wagner hosts Albany on November 21 on Time Warner Albany. All games will also be carried by Fox College Sports.
“We're very pleased to be able to expand our football coverage this season,” said Ron Ratner, NEC Interim Commissioner. “This is an exciting time for NEC football with interest rising and automatic access to the FCS playoffs just one year away. Thanks to our television partners, this year's package includes a pair of rivalry games, and also opens and closes with traditional NEC powers Monmouth and Albany, respectively.”
