LINCROFT. N.J. ? The Monmouth University women's tennis team notched their second straight home victory on Wednesday afternoon as they were victorious over their Hawk counterpart, Maryland-Eastern Shore, with a 6-1 win in Lincroft, N.J. MU soundly won five of six singles matches and all three doubles matches, pushing their overall record to 6-13 including a 3-4 home record.

After opening up the spring by dropping three of four matches, the Blue and White have found their groove, taking the last two matches with an overpowering points margin of 11-3.

The Hawks took the first three singles matches of the afternoon, including a dominating 6-0, 6-0 victory by senior Kaitlin Gallagher (North Haledon, N.J./Immaculate Heart Academy) at second singles over UMES's Abioye. Freshman Jessica Slinger (Tinton Falls, N.J./Monmouth Regional) became the first Monmouth player to reach 10 wins on the season when she retired the Hawks' Coltrane, 6-3, 6-2 in third singles action.

Junior Diane Washer (Ogdensburg, N.J./Wallkill Valley Regional), who leads the MU Hawks with .727 win percentage (8-3 overall), continued her winning ways scoring a win at fifth singles over UMES's Jones-Stewart, 6-2, 6-4.

In doubles action, the duo of Gallagher and fellow classmate Sarah Ragan (Lanoka Harbor, N.J./Lacey Township) scrapped for an 8-6 win at first doubles to ignite the doubles squads for the Blue and White. Teammates Washer and Slinger followed suit with an 8-2 victory of their own to give MU the doubles point on the afternoon.

Monmouth takes their win streak, and 4-3 overall NEC record, into their next matchup as they host NEC rival St. Francis College on Monday, April 13th in Lincroft, N.J. Match time is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
