WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. ? Monmouth University Athletics and the Lakewood BlueClaws unveiled on Monday a new and unique partnership under which the BlueClaws are now the exclusive external ticketing vendor for the Monmouth University Athletics Department.
This announcement comes just months before the new Multipurpose Activity Center opens in the Fall 2009. The arena, a 153,200 square foot state-of-the-art facility will include a 4,100-seat multipurpose gymnasium, a six-lane, 200 meter indoor track, Fitness Center, Entertainment Suites, The Varsity Club (donor hospitality area), Champions Hall and will serve as the new home of the Hawks men's and women's basketball teams.
“We are thrilled to partner with such a consistently successful organization,” said Dr. Marilyn McNeil, Vice President and Director of Athletics. “As we move into a tremendous new facility it is only fitting to partner with a team known regionally and nationally as one of the most successful organizations with regards to selling tickets and catering towards families in Ocean and Monmouth Counties.”
The agreement will also feature significant cross-promotion between the BlueClaws and Monmouth University, including Monmouth University Alumni Night, to be held at FirstEnergy Park on August 20th.

Group and season tickets for Monmouth's football, men's and women's basketball teams will go on sale beginning in May. Fans looking to secure basketball season tickets will be able to select their seats in the Fall. Seat selections will be based on Monmouth Athletics priority points system. Monmouth University, a private institution of higher education, boasts 19 Division I athletics programs, and is located in West Long Branch, New Jersey. The Hawks, who will call the new $57 million Multipurpose Activity Center their home starting this summer, have won the Northeast Conference Commissioner's Cup for overall excellence, four of the last five years.
The Lakewood BlueClaws welcomed 425,166 fans to FirstEnergy Park during the 2008 season which upped their eight-season total to 3,595,378. They have led the South Atlantic League in average or overall attendance in each of their eight seasons.
The team recently announced that all children ages 12 and under, will eat for free at every 2009 home games.
