WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. - The Monmouth University women's basketball team looks to snap a two-game losing streak when they host Mount St. Mary's on Saturday afternoon at Boylan Gym. The game marks the National Girls and Women in Sports presented by Redken celebration with this year's theme being "Think Pink" for breast cancer awareness.

The Hawks and Mount both come into the contest on slides, with the visitors having dropped four league games in a row. Monmouth dropped their most recent game 95-83 to Robert Morris this past Monday, while Mount fell fell 65-61 to St. Francis (N.Y.). MU is led by Jennifer Bender (Staten Island, N.Y./Staten Island Tech) , who is averaging 13.8 points and 8.3 rebounds per game, while the Mount is led by the reigning NEC Rookie of the Week in Lauren Howell. Howell recently tied an NCAA record with 14 straight three-point field goal makes.

At halftime of the game between the Mount and Hawks, the Monmouth University NJAIAW Woman of the Year recipient will be chosen among selected female student-athletes. Also at halftime, the winners of the Stafford Award, who are breast cancer survivors, will be recognized.
