Illiana Blackshear (West Orange, N.J./West Orange) recorded her first career two-goal game, while freshman
Mary Wilks (Bridgeton, N.J./Bridgeton) registered two assists, as the Hawks topped Saint Peter's 3-0 on Friday afternoon.
Blackshear netted the Hawks' first score, as the forward connected with freshman Gianna Russo (Yardville, N.J./The Pennington School) in the 39th minute. Blackshear scored her second goal off a feed from Wilks in the 68th minute.
Wilks assisted on a Michelle Zook (Gambrills, Md./Arundel) goal in the 87th minute to round out the scoring for the Hawks. Zook's tally was the first of her career.
"It was a solid team effort," said Turner, who collected her 100th career victory with the win. "We were able to score some goals and register a shutout on the road."
Starting goalkeeper Katie Buffa (East Meadow, N.Y./East Meadow) and freshman Lia Fierro (Short Hills, N.J./Millburn) combined for the shutout for the Hawks, as each played a half in goal.
Monmouth outshot the Peahens 30-0 in the match, forcing Leigha Ashmen and Reanna Gibbs to make a combined 12 saves on the day.
Monmouth returns to action on Sunday, when the Hawks travel to Rutgers for a 1:00 p.m. match at Yurcak Field.
