FAIRFIELD, Conn. ? The Monmouth University women's tennis team fell 7-0 to Sacred Heart in Northeast Conference action on Thursday afternoon at the SHU Courts.
Kaitlin Gallagher (North Haledon, N.J./Immaculate Heart Academy) fell at first singles to Julianne Kasinow 6-3, 6-1, and teammate Sarah Ragan (Lanoka Harbor, N.J./Lacey) lost at second singles 6-2, 6-0 to Darcy Demers.
Katie Tierney (Berkeley Heights, N.J./Governor Livingston) dropped a 6-2, 6-1 decision to Nicole Betz at third singles. Kristen Hoffman (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central) dropped her match at fourth singles to Elizabet Harrington 6-2, 6-1 and teammate Diane Washer (Ogdensburg, N.J./Wallkill Valley) fell 6-3, 6-2 to Jessica Schnell at fifth singles. Chrissy Cella (Spotswood, N.J./Spotswood) lost 6-1, 6-1 to Mandy Finkelstein at sixth singles.
The duo of Gallagaher/Ragan dropped their match at first doubles 8-2 to the team of Betz/Demers and Tierney/Washer fell to Kasinow/Amalfe 8-4 at second doubles. The MU team of Hoffman/Friedrich fell to SHU's Finkelstein/Price 8-0 at third doubles.
The Hawks, who are now 1-4 and 1-1 in NEC play, return to action on Monday, October 1 when they travel to take on St. Francis [N.Y.] at 3:00 p.m.
