NEW YORK, NY – Monmouth's men's and women's track and field teams competed in the first day of the MAAC Indoor Track and Field Championships Saturday night at the 168
th Street Armory.

The women with 62 overall points leads 2
nd place Rider by 15 points while the men are leading with 91 points.
Tim Wilson broke his own school record in the weight throw with a mark of 66'10" on his last attempt to win the event.

A number of Hawks were able to qualify for the finals in several events that will be competed on Sunday.

NOTES AND QUOTES
- "We had some excellent efforts in all the events that were finals today, and a nice group that made it back to the finals tomorrow," said head coach Joe Compagni. "Championship meets are all about executing on the final day, and we know we have a lot of work left to do tomorrow as a team."
- Ben Pierce won the long jump with a mark of 23'1.75" with teammate Darius Howe finish just behind with a jump of 23'1.5" to finish 2nd and also qualify for the IC4As. Michael Pepper finished 5th by jumping 22'7".
- The DMR team of Dylan Capwell, Jack Grace, Ryan Rafferty, and Chris Marco won the relay in 10:05.06.
- Ryan Mitchell ran a personal best of 15:05 in the 5K to finish 7th.
- Evan Adams, Tim Van Cauwenberge, Dan Jefferson, Pierce, and Malcolm Chavis finished 4-5-6-7-8 to give Monmouth 15 points for the event.
- Four Hawks (Chris Marco, Jake Howell, Tim Euler, and Nick McFarland) all qualified for Sunday's final for the mile. Marco clocked in the fastest qualifying time by finishing in 4:17.67.
- In the 60-meter hurdles, Tim Van Cauwenberge and Tim Jacoutot moved on to tomorrow's final.
- Joseph Miguerson, Pete Guerriero, Ibrahim Massey and Bryan Sosoo qualified for the finals in the 60-meter dash with Sosoo finishing as the top qualifier in 6.76 seconds. The same four along with Malcolm Chavis also qualified for the 200-meter finals with Massey finished as top qualifier with a time of 21.93 seconds.
- Matt Isaacson, Dean McDonald, and Chad Smiley went 2-3-4 in the pole vault final while Nicholas Vail-Stein placed 7th to give the Hawks a total of 21 points from this event.
- Greg Stickle, Malcolm Chavis, and Jacoutot all booked their spots in the 400-meter finals.
- Dylan Capwell (1:49.01) finished as the top qualifier in the 800-meters by more than five seconds and will be joined by Marco and Bryan Cabral in tomorrow's final.
- For the women, Kennisha Okereke set a new program record in the weight throw with a mark of 59'1.25" to finish 2nd. Alicia Hester (58'2.5") finished right behind in third while Jordan Wildermuth (52'8.25") and Chibuzo Amonu (51'11.75") placed 6th and 7th.
- DMR team Brianna Stratz, Mackenzie Todd, Chandi Piiru, and Allie Wilson won the event by finishing in 12:01.62.
- Rebecca Ley shattered her personal best in the 5K to finish third with a time of 17:21.47, which is the fourth best time in program history.
- Domoah Kutu-Akoi finished 2nd in the long jump with a jump of 19' while Ashley McKinnon (18'7.75") was just behind in third and Patrice Baston (17'10.75") placed 6th.
- Chloe Angelini and Casey Struts tied for third in the high jump by clearing 5'3".
- Domoah Kutu-Akoi, Iyanna Jenkins, and Ashley McKinnon qualified for Sunday's final in the 60-meter dash.
- Viviane Orleans and Dana Lynch both finished in qualifying position in the 60-meter hurdles.
- Nioami Miranda will represent the Blue and White in the 400-meter dash final.
- Allie Wilson, Chandi Piiru, Brianna Stratz, and Amber Stratz will make up half the field in Sunday's final for the 800-meters.
- Kyra Velock finished as the top qualifier in the mile with a time of 4:58.75 while Amber Stratz and Wilson will also compete in the mile finals.
