Monmouth University has announced the appointment of Dr. Patrick J. Elliott as Senior Associate Athletic Director for Revenue Generation and NIL, bringing more than three decades of experience in intercollegiate athletics leadership, fundraising, and strategic development to the Hawks.
In this position, Elliott will oversee Monmouth’s efforts in revenue generation, corporate partnerships, and Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) initiatives. He will play a key role in advancing the department’s external relations strategy, identifying new opportunities for growth and engagement with alumni, corporate partners, and the Monmouth community.
Elliott most recently served as Senior Director of University Development at Seton Hall University, where he led comprehensive fundraising strategies aligned with the university’s capital campaign. His work included managing a portfolio of principal and major gift prospects, mentoring a team of development professionals, and building relationships with key stakeholders across campus and industry.
Prior to Seton Hall, Elliott was Director of Major Gifts & Complex Assets for Catholic Charities USA, overseeing a national donor portfolio and launching a new giving program for non-cash assets that generated millions annually. He also held a leadership role as Special Assistant to the President at Binghamton University, where he contributed to athletics facility planning and donor engagement.
Elliott’s distinguished career in college athletics includes a decade as Director of Athletics at Binghamton University, where he guided 21 Division I programs and secured transformational philanthropic support—including the largest gift in SUNY history. He previously served as Director of Athletics at Saint Peter’s University and as a senior athletics administrator at St. John’s University and Seton Hall University, his alma mater.
A former Seton Hall men’s basketball assistant coach, Elliott earned his Ph.D. in Performance Psychology from Grand Canyon University, focusing his dissertation on grit and athletic performance among student-athletes. He also holds both a Master of Arts in Education and a Bachelor of Science in Management and Industrial Relations from Seton Hall.
Elliott is an Under Armour Division I Athletics Director of the Year Award recipient, winning the award in 2016-17, and a past chair of the NCAA Division I Nominating Committee and America East Conference Administrative Council.
