Monica D'Ippolito joined the Monmouth University Athletics department in June, 2026 as the Executive Assistant Athletic Director for Strategic Communications.
D'Ippolito spent the last eight-plus years at SUNY New Paltz where she was first hired in August 2017 as the department's Athletic Communications Director before being promoted as the Senior Director of Athletic Communications, Marketing and Social Media in November 2022.
Prior to joining SUNY New Paltz’s Athletic Department, D’Ippolito worked at the Baltimore Sun Media Group, Howard County Times as a staff sports writer under editor Brent Kennedy where she produced in-depth coverage of local sports beats including preseason videos, post-game video interviews, weekly power rankings and notebooks, along with commentating on a weekly sports podcast for the publication as she covered seasonal beats, primarily covering women’s soccer, women’s basketball, women’s lacrosse, men’s and women’s cross country and track and field and softball, while assisting with football, cheerleading and volleyball.
Along with stints at the Baltimore Sun, she held positions as a freelance sports writer for Examiner Media, Halston Media and the Press Republican among other publications.
D’Ippolito earned her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism Magazine/Multimedia with a minor in English from SUNY Plattsburgh in 2014, while also competing for the Cardinals women’s soccer program for three seasons.
