Biography

2006 Cross Country: Led the Hawks in almost every meet to earn her fourth straight varsity letter in cross country...Top finisher and the only senior on a young Hawks’ squad that was fourth at NECs...Won the Monmouth Invitational.

2006 Outdoor:
Finished ninth in the 5,000-meter at the Monmouth Season Opener with a time of 18:16.60...Finished Lehigh Games in the 800-meter with a time of 2:24.38...14th at the 2006 NEC Outdoor Conference Track and Field Championships in the 1,500-meter.

2006 Indoor:
Ran anchor leg of distance medley relay at the NEC Indoor Championships, posting a fifth place finish...Also placed eighth in the mile run and 10th in the 3000m... NEC Athlete of the Week for Jan. 24, after winning the 5000m and taking fourth in the mile run at the Great Dane Invitational.

2005 Cross Country:
Placed sixth at the MU Kickoff... placed in the top-20 at the Red Flash Invitational...Placed second only to teammate Katina Alexander at MU Cross Country Invitational...Second-best Hawk finish in school history at NCAA Regionals with a top-50 finish (49th-21:58)...Placed in top-20 at ECACs with a time of 19:12.50 at Van Courtlandt Park...Claimed All-NEC honors with seventh place finish at NEC Championships.

2005 Outdoor:
Placed fifth in the 5000m at the Monmouth University Season Opener... Placed 4th in the 5000 in 18:59.48 at the New Jersey Invitational.

2005 Indoor:
Member of distance medley relay team, which placed seventh at NEC Championships...Placed second in the mile at the Seton Hall Open...Placed second as a member of the distance medley relay at the Gulden Relays...Distance medley relay anchored by Lyles grabbed a third place finish at the Great Dane Classic

2004 Cross Country: Finished 15th at NEC Championships, running 19:47...Placed sixth overall in 20:28, helping Hawks to team title at Monmouth University Invitational.

2004 Outdoor: Finished fourth in the 5000 at the University of Delaware Invitational (18:48.68).

2004 Indoor: Added depth to the solid distance crew running the 800, mile, 3000 and 5000.

2003 Cross Country: Finished fifth for MU and 20th overall as Monmouth took third at NEC Championships at Holmdel Park.

Personal: Daughter of Bryon Lyles and Carole M. Lewis...Born Malia L. Lyles on February 20, 1985 in Trenton, N.J...Majoring in psychology and social work...Two-sport standout at Cherokee High School in Marlton, N.J...Earned two varsity letters each in cross country and track & field...Earned All-South Jersey in cross country as a senior.
