Christian Spaulding

Christian Spaulding joined the Monmouth coaching staff in February 2018 as the interim throws coach before becoming the full time coach for the 2018-19 season. Spaulding coaches the men's and women's throwing group which includes the Shot Put, Weight Throw, Hammer, Discus, and Javelin.

Spaulding's has coached four All-Americans, nine Regional Qualifiers, and 12 conference champions in the time he has spent in West Long Branch.

In the 2022 outdoor season, Spaulding coached freshman javelin thrower Evan Niedrowski who qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field East Preliminary Round. Neidrowski proceeded to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships where he earned Second Team All-American honors as a freshman, finishing 11th in the javelin throw. He also won the gold medal at the USA Track and Field U20 Championships with a mark of 70.58m, qualifying for the World Athletics U20 Championships.

In the 2019 outdoor season, Spaulding coached two NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship Qualifiers, including a Second Team All-American. His coaching also helped produce five NCAA Regional Qualifiers, three in javelin, one in shot put, and one in the hammer throw. He also helped Corey Murphy break the men's shot put school record with a throw of 19.45m. Spaulding also added six conference champions between the javelin, shot put, and discus. This past spring, he helped mentor several conference champions and All-East performers. He also helped javelin throws Danielle Steff and Chris Putnam qualify for the U.S. Junior Nationals.

For the 2019 indoor season, Spaulding coached Corey Murphy to become a USATF Indoor National Qualifier and a NCAA Second Team All-American. Allison Taub broke the school record in the indoor season in the shot put with a throw of 15.30m. She was also a conference champion in the shot put.

In his first season in West Long Branch in outdoor of 2018, Spaulding coached three NCAA Regional Qualifiers in the javelin and hammer throw. He also had two USATF Junior All-American Qualifiers. He also coached four conference champions in the hammer throw, javelin, and shot put.

Spaulding's certifications including USATF Level 1, NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, NASM Performance Enhancement Specialist, and USTFCCA Stregth and Conditioning Coach Certification.

Spaulding comes to West Long Branch after spending a year as an assistant coach at Transylvania University. The Red Bank native was a four-time all-Big South performer and NCAA First Round qualifier in the javelin while at High Point University. As a senior, he was named an All-American in the javelin at the 2016 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. He continues to compete and is currently the Ecuadorian Sub-23 Javelin National Champion.Â
