Monmouth University is proud to announce the appointment of Hayley Masi as its new head swim coach, an accomplished coach with extensive experience in coaching high-level athletes.

Masi joins Monmouth from the University of Connecticut, where she served as assistant swim coach since 2021. During her time with the Huskies, she helped drive remarkable progress—crafting season-long and individualized training plans, leading recruitment, and contributing to the program’s recognition as the 2023–24 Big East Coaching Staff of the Year. Under her guidance, the Huskies earned 20 team wins and a .690 winning percentage.

Before her time at UConn, Masi made an impact at Fordham University. As an assistant coach, she helped guide the team to a second-place finish at the 2020 Atlantic 10 Championships and played a critical role in recruiting the program’s first NCAA qualifier in over 15 years.

Her leadership journey also includes serving as head swim coach and aquatics director at Maine Maritime Academy. There, Masi led the program to its first-ever team victory and recruited a standout class of 13 incoming athletes—laying a foundation for lasting success.

Beyond collegiate swimming, Masi has dedicated herself to developing young athletes and promoting water safety through her work with the Monmouth County Junior Lifeguards and Navy Swim Camps. She brings not only a competitive mindset, but a dedication for mentorship and community engagement.

A former standout athlete herself, Masi earned her bachelor’s degree in Public Health with a minor in Education from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2018, where she served as senior captain of the UMass Swim and Dive Team. She is also a two-time national champion in lifeguard rescue races

Currently pursuing her master’s degree at the University of West Virginia with expected completion in 2026, Masi holds multiple certifications, including CPR, First Aid, Lifeguard Instruction, and ASCA Levels I & II.
