Former Hawk standout Molly O'Brien joined the coaching ranks of the program as a volunteer assistant in August of 2012.
"It is so great having Molly stay with our program," said MU Head Coach Denise Wescott. "She brings her success as a Monmouth lacrosse player, and knowledge from our philosophies. Her passion for lacrosse, work ethic, and leadership as a player are all on the field when she is coaching."
As a member of Wescott's staff, O'Brien will work primarily with the Hawks' attack, helping with scouting opponents and film breakdown.
"Molly is working on her Master's and has been part of the Monmouth community for 5 years, that knowledge helps our staff understand what our players are going through in the classroom, with their time, and socially around the area. She has been very helpful with recruits and answering questions about the University, Monmouth's student body and athletic family, and the local area."
O'Brien's fifth-year season was cut short in 2012 after suffering a knee injury just four games into the year. O'Brien was a prolific midfielder for the Hawks, starting in 58 career contests. The Kennett Square, Pa. native scored 75 goals and assisted on 32 others for 107 points, including a junior campaign in which she registered at least a point in every game.
