To Contact Coach Lamanna:
glamanna@monmouth.eduGreg Lamanna is in his third year as a member of the Hawks softball coaching staff. He successfully assists with the program?s recruiting efforts on and off campus. Lamanna has also worked with all aspects of position play for Monmouth in the past and aims to help solidify the infield defense in 2006.
Coach Lamanna?s impact has been immediate as the Hawks defense ranks 3rd in the Northeast Conference in fewest errors committed over the past two years. The Blue and White are tied for 4th in Northeast Conference in fielding percentage since Lamanna has taken over the defensive side of the game. The Hawks have come up even bigger with more pressure on the line as the Hawks rank 3rd in the NEC in fewest errors and fielding percentage in conference games over the past two years.
The three seniors graduated in 2005 were defensively arguably the best at their respective positions in the NEC. However, Coach Lamanna will work with the solid core of returners and the promising group of freshmen to get the Hawks up to speed defensively. Reinforcing fundamentals and communication, he?ll be getting the newcomers and veterans ready to give the pitching staff more support than ever before.
Lamanna arrives with four years of collegiate coaching experience. He served as head coach at the County College of Morris during the 2002 season. He also served as assistant coach at Morris for the 2000 and 2001 seasons. Prior to arriving at CCM, Lamanna served as an assistant coach at Fairleigh Dickinson-Madison during the 1999 season. Lamanna?s last coaching job was as an assistant coach at Villa Walsh Academy during the 2003 season, instructing the fundamentals of fielding and hitting.
A baseball player in high school and college, Lamanna has also served as an assistant coach for the Parsippany Trojans of the Morris Baseball League and has served at various softball and baseball camps in New Jersey.
Lamanna has served as a substitute teacher at both Summit (N.J.) High School and Parsippany-Troy Hills Township Schools.
Lamanna received his bachelor's degree in education from FDU-Madison in 1996.
