Zach Fried joined the Monmouth University sports medicine staff in the role of Assistant Athletic Trainer in March of 2022. Fried arrived in West Long Branch after spending three years on Staten Island, serving as the Assistant Athletic Trainer at Wagner College.
At Monmouth, Fried oversees the football and men’s and women’s swimming programs.
As a member of the Seahawks’ staff, Fried worked alongside the football, women’s basketball, and nationally-ranked women’s water polo programs. In his third year, he got the opportunity to work with the men’s water polo program, men’s and women’s swimming and diving, and the men’s basketball team, which, boasted the nation’s longest winning streak and appeared in the Northeast Conference (NEC) Championship game.
During 2021-22, as athletics was returning from the CoVID-19 pandemic, Fried was designated as the Insurance Coordinator, monitoring and revamping the way insurance information for all of Wagner’s student-athletes was entered and recorded.
Prior to arriving at Wagner, Fried spent one year as an Athletic Training Intern at Brown University. At Brown, he was responsible for organizing weekly orthopedic physician clinics and designing and implementing post-surgical rehabilitation plans. Additionally, he directly worked with the football, women's water polo, and equestrian programs.
While pursuing his Master’s degree, he was the head athletic trainer for the Frazier School District in Perryopolis, PA, where he was responsible for the coverage of varsity, junior varsity, and middle school sports. Fried also developed, organized, and implemented off-season strength and conditioning programs for the football and basketball programs.
During his time at Endicott, Fried worked in the athletic training office as a student-worker, where he assisted the athletic trainers that worked with the football, men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s lacrosse, field hockey, ice hockey, men’s basketball, volleyball, rugby, baseball, and softball programs. He helped to implement multiple injury prevention programs, active recovery plans, and mobility plans.
Fried earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training in May of 2017 and went on to receive his Masters of Science in Athletic Training from the California University of Pennsylvania in May of 2018.
