The Monmouth University swimming program announced the hiring of Nicole Alsobrooks as an assistant coach in August 2015. Alsobrooks brings a wide range of athletic experience to the program. The Jackson, N.J. native was a swim coach, high school coordinator, and aquatic assistant at her local Ocean County YMCA.

As the Aquatics Director and Assistant Swim Coach, she oversees all aquatic operations while assisting coach Matt Nunnally, who was hired lead the first swim teams at Monmouth in over two decades.

Monmouth has seen continued improvement from both programs at the MAAC Championships as the men finished fifth in the conference and the women sixth in 2020. Both finishes marked the highest ever position for the Hawks at the MAAC Championships. Monmouth had a record five individual MAAC Champions in 2020. Callan Smith won two events, and Blake Reynolds, Tahlia Botha and Camryn McHugh each secured gold medals for the Hawks. Botha was also named the MAAC Swimming Rookie of the Meet.

In 2018-19, the men finished sixth in the conference and the women seventh. Alsobrooks helped mentor a pair of MAAC Champions as freshmen Callan Smith and Camryn McHugh each became the first individual MAAC Champions in Monmouth history. Smith the MAAC Swimming Rookie of the Meet won the 500-yard freestyle, while McHugh took gold in the 200-yard backstroke.

As a standout runner at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C., Alsobrooks was the co-captain of the women’s track and field team. The outdoor and indoor sprinter set two event records as a freshman and never looked back, as she would continue to set both individual and team records as a member of the Demon Deacons. In the spring of 2010, Alsobrooks was named to the All-Athletic Coastal Conference Academic Honor Roll.

Alsobrooks revived her track and field career in 2013 when she became an assistant coach at her alma mater Jackson Memorial High School, a place where she was named first team All-Shore Conference in addition to all-county and all-state teams.

Alsobrooks currently resides in Toms River, NJ with her husband Justin and three children, Genevieve, Alexa and Ryan.Â
