Kenny Santos enters his fifth year on the Monmouth sidelines. Santos, who assisted the program as a volunteer prior to his official beginning, brings a great deal of expertise to his role.
Santos was a standout at Villanova in the late 80s, early 90s. In 1989, the forward was named Big East Rookie of the Year after he posted 10 goals and two assists. It proved to be the first of many honors for the Marlboro, N.J., native. He garnered two first-team All-Big East selections.
Santos, who earned a sociology degree from Villanova in 1992, played professional soccer from 1993-1998, including three seasons in the U. S. Interregional Soccer League. He was named team MVP of the Ft. Lauderdale Strikers in 1994, and in 1997 he was called up to the NY/NJ MetroStars for a US Open Cup match versus the Long Island Roughriders.
Santos teaches fifth grade at Markham Place School in Little Silver, N.J., and resides in Tinton Falls, with his wife Cristina.
