Former Monmouth University standout midfielder and team captain Jonathan Schmid enters his third season on staff as a volunteer assistant coach. Schmid, who was a member of head coach Robert McCourt's first MU team to win the Northeast Conference Tournament and advance to the NCAA Tournament in 2006, joins former teammate Hugh MacDonald on staff.

Schmid is involved in the day-to-day operations of running the program, which includes planning and execution of practice, travel, video analysis, and game day operations. He also aids in program fundraising efforts and alumni affairs, as well as the promotion of the program in the local community.

A 2006 All-NEC Second Team honoree, Schmid appeared in 74 career games, starting 66 of those contests. He logged five career goals and four assists while patrolling the midfield in his tenure, including his final three seasons under McCourt.
