BEFORE MONMOUTH: Smart was a three-sport athlete in lacrosse, soccer and diving at Garnet Valley High School. Smart played lacrosse for head coach Frank Urso where he split time as a defender and long stick midfielder and was named the team’s best defensive player twice. A three-year letterwinner, Smart was a Second Team All-Central League and All-Delco Honorable Mention selection. He participated in the Philly Showcase Fab 40 and led his team in ground balls in two seasons. An Honor Roll student, Smart also participated in Class Activity Club.
