Rachelle Paul began her first year as Associate Athletics Director/Student Development and Senior Woman Administrator in April 2012. In her role, Paul coordinates all areas involved with NCAA and Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference rules and regulations, provides oversight to all compliance processes, develops and conducts rules education programs, including boosters, and oversees the comprehensive academic support program for student-athletes. She also acts as a liaison with faculty, provides tutoring, study hall and academic counseling oversight, mentors coaching staffs and provides daily policy interpretation.
Serving as a member of senior staff, Paul is responsible for input into internal policy development and strategic planning. She also acts as a liaison with appropriate University departments, the Faculty Athletics Representative and Athletics Professor-in-Residence. Paul is also a member of the NCAA women's lacrosse rules committee.
Prior to coming to West Long Branch, Paul spent four years at Canisius, her alma mater, as director of compliance after being named to the position in February 2008. In her role at Canisius, she was responsible for the coordination of all NCAA Division I, Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference and Canisius College compliance procedures.
Paul, a former women's lacrosse and soccer player at Canisius College, returned to Buffalo after spending two years as the Assistant Commissioner and Senior Woman Administrator at the Northeast Conference. While working in the Northeast Conference's office, she was responsible for the administration and management of all NCAA Division I governance and compliance matters, including interpretation of the NCAA Manual, distribution of the special assistance and student-athlete opportunity funds, administration of coaches' certification exams, conference compliance reviews and the tracking of member institutions' academic progress. She served as the conference's liaison for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and acted as the coordinator of selected championship operations.
Prior to her time at the Northeast Conference, Paul was the administrative fellow for compliance at the MAAC office in Edison, N.J. While working for the MAAC, she assisted the league's associate commissioner in all areas of NCAA Division I compliance. She also served a 10-month term with AmeriCorps-Athletes in Service group where she mentored high school students within the Buffalo Public School system.
Paul graduated from Canisius in 2003 with her bachelor's degree in communications and then completed her master's degree in sport administration at the College in 2004. A four-year letterwinner for the women's lacrosse program at Canisius, she ranks seventh in school history in career points (65), eighth in career goals (49), eighth in career assists (19) and third in career ground balls (133). She also earned two varsity letters as a member of the school's women's soccer team.
The former Rachelle Held is married to Tim Paul. The couple wed in June 2012.
