Biography

Greg Ott joined the Monmouth University Athletic Communications staff in September 2011. He currently serves as primary media relations contact for the Hawks' men's soccer, women's basketball, softball and men's and women's tennis programs. He also serves as sport supervisor for softball. Previously, Ott served as media relations contact for baseball.

Ott came to West Long Branch after serving as Assistant Sports Information Director at Quinnipiac University. In his second stint at Quinnipiac following a two-year graduate assistantship from 2005-07, Ott served as the primary media relations contact for the men's basketball, lacrosse and tennis teams, as well as women's tennis and volleyball from December 2007-September 2011.  

Ott helped drive local and national notoriety for the men's basketball team at Quinnipiac through media coverage by the New York Times, Sports Radio 66 WFAN, the YES Network, The New Haven Register and ESPN Radio 1410 (Hartford) and 1310 (New Haven). Ott secured newspaper, television and radio spots for Head Coach Tom Moore, including multiple spots on WFAN and the YES Network's "Mike's On, Francesa on the Fan," with two-time Marconi Award (given annually to the major market personality of the year) winner Mike Francesa. Ott also helped secure a weekly radio spot for Moore on "The Back Page with Jason Page" on the local ESPN Radio affiliate.   

Between stops at Quinnipiac, Ott spent five months at Iowa State University as Intern Associate for Athletics Communications. Ott was the primary contact for the Cyclones' women's soccer and gymnastics programs. He also assisted with game day operations for the Iowa State football and men's and women's basketball programs. In addition to writing and designing media guides, Ott prepared feature stories, took action and still photography, and shot a variety of video for cyclones.com, the official Iowa State athletics website.

A 2005 graduate of Springfield (Mass.) College with a double-major in Communications/Sports Journalism and English, the Oxford, Conn., native served as Editor-in-Chief of The Student, Springfield's student newspaper. Ott is also nearing completion of a master's degree in journalism at Quinnipiac.
