Olivia Szallai was named the Monmouth University head football athletic trainer in the summer of 2024.
Szallai joins the Hawks after serving as an athletic trainer/football rehabilitation coordinator for Long Island University Football and the Schwartz Institute. There she designed all football rehabilitation, prevention and maintenance programs. Szallai worked with the team physician to evaluate for concussions and manage the return to play plan. She was the primary liaison for braces and durable medical equipment. She was also a preceptor for the Stony Brook ATEP.
Prior to her time on Long Island, Szallai was the athletic trainer for the Texas A&M University Football Program. There she helped utilize various screening, diagnostic and rehab tools. She worked with the team physical therapist to implement rehabilitation and return to play programs. Szallai provided concussion assessments and documented athlete event participation.
Szallai started her career as the graduate assistant athletic trainer with the University of Kentucky Football Program. There she helped implement an ankle sprain prevention program and designed the post-op rehabilitation programs. Szallai scheduled and facilitated NCAA and institutional drug tests. She was in charge of coordinating and facilitating medical appointments, surgeries, procedures and more.
Szallai also served as an athletic training intern for the Pittsburgh Steelers from 2017-18.
Szallai earned her bachelors of science in athletic training from Duquesne in 2018. She received a masters of science in athletic training from Kentucky in 2020.
