TJ DiMuzio, who joined the Monmouth staff as wide receivers coach in 2014, was promoted to Pass Game Coordinator/Quarterbacks Coach in Winter of 2019.
DiMuzio, a former collegiate quarterback, slid into the backfield to work with the Hawk signal callers. He will begin his eighth season with the Hawks and his 16th overall season as a collegiate coach in the Fall 2021 season.
The Spring 2021 season was DiMuzio's first working with Monmouth's quarterbacks and true freshman Tony Muskett. Muskett was named to HERO Sports' Freshman All-America team after starting all four games. He threw for 1,039 yards on 80-of-128 passing with nine touchdowns and just two interceptions. Muskett finished fifth in the voting for the Jerry Rice Award, was named the Big South Offensive Freshman of the Year and was a First Team All-Conference choice.
In his six seasons coaching the Monmouth wide receivers, DiMuzio coached a First Team All-Big South selection in every season. Reggie White Jr., who finished his career as the most decorated wideout in school history, was a consensus All-American, set the Monmouth and Big South records for career receptions and yardage while earning three consecutive all-league honors. In addition to White Jr., DiMuzio coached former NFL tight end Neal Sterling (2014) who starred for the Blue & White at wide receiver and became the second player drafted in Monmouth history. After Sterling, two-time All-Big South pick Darren Ambush elevated his game and earned First and Second Team honors in 2015 and 2016. More recently, DiMuzio mentored Terrance Greene Jr. and Lonnie Moore IV, who earned First and Second Team recognition in 2019, respectively.
DiMuzio came to Monmouth from Widener University where he served as Assistant Head Coach/Offensive Coordinator and also served as the quarterbacks coach and recruiting coordinator. With seven years of coaching experience, DiMuzio has also coached at Bowling Green, Hofstra and his alma mater University of Delaware.
At Widener, DiMuzio led a Pride offense that ranked first in the Middle Athletic Conference in total offense, scoring offense, pass offense, third down conversions, first downs and completion percentage. Under DiMuzio’s tutelage wideout Anthony Davis earned All-America honors and broke a trio of single-season school receiving records. Quarterback Seth Klein was also named MAC Rookie of the Year after leading the country in completion percentage and throwing for 2,809 yards and 17 touchdowns.
Prior to Widener, DiMuzio spent four seasons at the FBS level at Bowling Green University. His first role was Defensive Graduate Assistant for the 2009 and 2010 seasons, where he worked with the Falcon defensive ends. In January of 2011, DiMuzio was elevated to Director of Player Personal where he also served as the Assistant Special Teams Coordinator and Recruiting Coordinator. In that role he coordinated nationwide recruiting efforts, organized recruiting areas, developed offensive game plans for weekly opponents and coordinated the Falcons’ special teams.
After a one year stop coaching the tight ends at Hofstra, DiMuzio returned to Delaware where he worked with the Blue Hen wide receivers in 2008 and running backs in 2007. During that two-year span DiMuzio coached All-America and Walter Payton Award finalist Omar Cuff in 2007 and All-Colonial Athletic Association wide receiver Aaron Love, who set Delaware’s all-time reception record in 2008. A perennial nationally-ranked team, Delaware went 11-3 and played in the National Championship game with DiMuzio on the coaching staff in 2007.
A 2006 graduate of The University of Delaware, DiMuzio played quarterback for the Blue Hens and was a member of the 2003 National Champions. As a student assistant with UD, the Pennington, N.J., native worked with the outside linebackers during the 2005 season. DiMuzio earned a master’s degree in athletic administration from Bowling Green University in May of 2012.
