Marvin Clecidor joined the Monmouth coaching staff in May of 2012.
Clecidor comes to Monmouth from Rutgers University, where he helped lead the Scarlet Knights to a 9-4 record and a victory in the 2012 New Era Pinstripe Bowl last season.
"We are very excited to have Marvin join our staff," said Monmouth Head Coach Kevin Callahan. "His coaching experiences at Rutgers and Wagner and as a player in the Patriot League have given him a great coaching foundation. He is a great addition to our defensive staff."
As a defensive graduate assistant with the Scarlet Knights, he was responsible for defensive quality control including opposing team's offensive pass concepts and personnel. He conducted individual practice drills and coached the offensive scout team. While in Piscataway, Clecidor mentored First Team All-Big East safety Duron Harmon and Second Team All-Big East cornerback Logan Ryan.
Already familiar with the Northeast Conference, Clecidor was a member of Wagner's coaching staff in the 2010 and 2011 seasons, where he coached the cornerbacks. While a member of the Seahawk coaching staff he mentored First Team All-NEC selection Stefon Gage and Second Team selection Frantz Placide. In addition to putting together practice scripts, Clecidor assisted with special teams including kickoff coverage and return units. In 2010, Wagner was ranked 15th in the nation in pass defense. Prior to Wagner, Clecidor coached the defensive backs at Wilkes University.
Clecidor was a standout defensive back at Lafayette College from 2005 to 2009, leading the Leopards to Patriot League Championships in 2005 and 2006. A three-year starter at defensive back, he appeared in 32 games (starting 28 contests), amassing 114 tackles and four interceptions. A two-time All-Patriot League honoree (2007, 2008), Clecidor was second in the league in pass breakups as a junior.
Clecidor played his high school football at Lake Gibson Senior High School in Lakeland, Fla. He graduated in 2009 from Lafayette with his BA then went on to earn his MBA from Wagner College in 2011.
