Andrew Kirkland

Andrew Kirkland joined the Monmouth Football staff as linebackers coach on April 2, 2015. The 2023 season will be Kirkland's ninth at Monmouth. Kirkland assumed the role of Director of Operations prior to the 2022 season.

During his tenure, Kirkland has mentored three all-conference selections, including Payton Minnich (2015), Da'Quan Grimes (2019, 2020-21) and Eddie Hahn V (2020-21, 2021). Monmouth has made three FCS playoff appearances and owns an overall record of 43-20 since 2017.

Kirkland came to Monmouth after a three-year stint at Colgate, spending two of those seasons mentoring the defensive backs, a position he starred at for the Raiders as a student-athlete. After spending 2013 working with the team's outside linebackers, Kirkland shifted back to the secondary under head coach Dan Hunt in 2014. In his first year back with the Raiders, he helped coach Colgate to its eighth Patriot League Championship in 2012.

Prior to coaching at his alma mater, Kirkland spent two seasons at Wesleyan University in Connecticut and one season at Kings College.

Kirkland played defensive back for Colgate's 2005 Patriot League championship team before gaining his first coaching experience as a student assistant during his senior season, which he missed because of injury. Kirkland helped guide the Raiders to another Patriot League title that fall before moving on to King's College of Pennsylvania in 2009.

Kirkland is a native of Voorhees, N.J., and played his prep football at Eastern Regional High School.
