Maggie Long begins her fifth season as an assistant coach for the Monmouth University field hockey program after completing a stellar playing career at the College of William and Mary. Long's responsibilities include on-field coaching, recruiting, academic development and assisting with Monmouth Field Hockey Camp.

Long helped guide the Blue and White to back-to-back Northeast Conference Championships game appearances while gaining the nation's attention in the process as the Hawks were listed in the Kookaburra/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I National Coaches Poll.  In 2010, Long tutored team point leader Michelle Pieczynski (14 g, 3 a) to All-NEC First-Team honors, while seeing Kimmy Baligian (14g, 1 a) to a break-out season.

Long duties include practice planning and execution, travel preparation, scouting and compliance. She is also the site director and coach for the Region 6 U-16 futures players.

While competing for the Tribe, Long, a 2007 graduate, served as team captain and was honored with the President's Award for excellence in sports, leadership and commitment.

A native of Ocean City, N.J., Long was named South Jersey College Player of the Year in 2006. She also enjoyed a highly successful scholastic career at Ocean City High School, where she helped lead the program to conference, South Jersey and New Jersey state championships in 1999, 2001 and 2002. She graduated high school as the school's all-time leader in assists and was named first-team All-South Jersey, first-team all-conference, first-team all-state her junior and senior seasons, as well as a Mid-Atlantic Regional All-American in 2002.
