WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Monmouth Cross Country Head Coach Damon Godfrey announced the hiring of new Cross Country Assistant Coach Savanah Beavers.
Beavers brings a decorated distance-running career and coaching experience to the program after competing at the NCAA Division I level at Lehigh University.
"We are extremely excited to welcome Savanah Beavers to our staff and to the Monmouth family," said Godfrey. "Throughout the interview process, Savanah impressed us with her passion for the sport, her ability to connect with student-athletes and her understanding of what it takes to build a successful team culture."
Beavers comes to Monmouth following a one-year stint as assistant track and field coach at Olympia High School in Illinois during the 2026 season. During her time at Olympia, she developed individualized training plans, provided technical instruction and race preparation, and assisted with meet operations and team travel. Every athlete she worked with recorded a personal best during the season.
Prior to making the jump to coaching, Beavers competed in cross country and track and field at Lehigh from 2021-25, serving as a cross country team captain and event group leader during her career. In those leadership roles, she helped mentor more than 25 teammates while serving as a liaison between student-athletes, coaches and administrators. She also assisted with prospective student-athlete recruiting visits and was recognized with Lehigh's Coach's Award in 2024 for her leadership, teamwork and work ethic.
On the track, Beavers concluded her Lehigh career ranked among the program's top 10 performers in five events: the indoor 3,000 meters, indoor 5,000 meters, outdoor 5,000 meters, outdoor 10,000 meters and 3,000-meter steeplechase.
Godfrey continued, "As a former outstanding runner at Lehigh, she understands the commitment and work required to compete at a high level, and I believe she will be an outstanding mentor for our student-athletes. Savanah brings tremendous energy to our program, and we are excited about the impact she will have on both our cross country and track & field programs."
Away from competition, Beavers participated in Lehigh's T.I.D.E. (Tackling Inclusion, Diversity & Equity) program and C.O.A.C.H. (Community Outreach by Athletes Who Care) program. She also assisted in teaching a physics course through the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth.
A native of Danvers, Illinois, Beavers earned her Bachelor of Arts in Physics with a minor in Philosophy from Lehigh in May 2025. She later spent the 2025-26 academic year as a visiting graduate student in physics at Illinois State University.
