RICHMOND, Va. – After leading the Monmouth University men's basketball team to a 2-0 week junior guard
Jason Rivera-Torres was named the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Co-Player of the Week by league officials.
Rivera-Torres, who averaged 21 points and 6.5 rebounds per game, was honored for the first time this season. He becomes the third Hawk to be honored by the league this season (
Stefanos Spartalis – Nov. 24,
Kavion McClain – Feb. 16).
In Thursday's win over Stony Brook, Rivera-Torres finished with 25 points, six rebounds and four assists. It was Rivera-Torres' ninth game this season with 20+ points and his second game of the season with 20+ points, six rebounds and four assists. He scored 17 of his 25 points in the second half and shot 53.8% from the field.
In Saturday's win over Elon, Rivera-Torres finished with a team-high 17 points, seven rebounds, five assists and two steals. He shot 62.5% (5-8) from the field.
Rivera-Torres hit five threes against Stony Brook and added three more against Elon.
Rivera-Torres enters the final game of the regular season averaging 15.8 points and 8.1 rebounds per game. He is also contributing 3.1 assists and 2.0 steals per game. Rivera-Torres ranks in the top 10 in the CAA for scoring, rebounding, blocks and steals.
Rivera-Torres and the Hawks wrap up the regular season on Tuesday, Mar. 3 at Northeastern. Tip from Boston is set for 7 p.m.
