PHILADELPHIA, PA. – Cornelius Robinson III and Kavion McClain scored 20 points apiece to lead the Monmouth University men's basketball team to a dominating 93-73 win over Drexel University on Thursday night.Â
The Hawks (13-12, 7-5 CAA) saw themselves down early as Drexel scored the first five points of the game. Monmouth responded with a 10-0 run and took a lead it would not relinquish the rest of the way.Â
A three-pointer by Jason Rivera-Torres at 13:14 pushed the Monmouth advantage to double-digits at 21-11.Â
Five straight points from Robinson III pushed the Hawks' lead to 32-14 with 6:16 to go until the half.Â
The Hawks continued to battle as Robinson III's tip-in at 2:33 gave Monmouth a 43-17 lead. It was Monmouth's largest lead of the first half.Â
The Hawks eventually took a 45-22 lead at the break. Monmouth shot 51% from the field in the first 20 minutes.Â
Back-to-back triples from McClain early in the second half pushed the Monmouth advantage to 53-26 with 16:57 to play.Â
That was the Hawks' largest advantage of the game. Drexel cut the lead to 15 at one point but Monmouth continued to knock down shots and claimed the 93-73 win.

- Cornelius Robinson III scored a season-high 20 points in the contest. He was one point shy of his career-high, 21 set against Elon last year.
- Kavion McClain knocked down a season-high 20 points for the Hawks. He finished four points shy of his career-high set against Alabama A&M last year.
- The Hawks connected on a season-high 11 three-pointers in the game. Its the most three-pointers by a Monmouth squad since they hit 11 against Drexel last year.
- Jason Rivera-Torres contributed 18 points against the Dragons. It was his second straight game in double figures and his 21st game of the season.
- Andrew Ball came off the bench to score 12 points. It was the fifth time in the last seven games he has reached double figures.
- Monmouth recorded 10 steals on the night. The Hawks are 5-1 this season when they record 10 or more steals in a game.
- The Hawks made 20-of-24 chances from the foul line. It was the sixth time this season the Hawks have made 20 or more free throws in a game and Monmouth is 4-2 in those contests.
- The 93 points scored by the Hawks is the second most points scored this season.
- Monmouth forced Drexel into 15 turnovers and scored 25 points off those turnovers.
- With the victory, Monmouth moved into sole possession of fourth place in the CAA standings.
- Jack Collins started the 118th game of his Monmouth career, moving into sole possession for the second-most starts in program history.
